Haiti Sponsorship Program
Many in the developing world often lack access to food, clothing and education. When you sponsor a child, teen or young adult through PID, you support an entire family on their path out of poverty.
Your investment of $40 per month (or $480/year) provides/covers the following for the sponsored:
Non-school Age Children - Food, monetary disbursement and medical care, or other necessities needed to ensure the child’s well being.
School Age Children - Monthly money for school tuition fees, medical care, school supplies, emergency care if needed
Continuing Education Students - Tuition fees and medical care.
Sponsoring is one of the most effective ways to help PID make a difference and your donation will work to change the future for the sponsored and their family.
Micro-Loans Program
In countries where more than half the population is unemployed, survival becomes a daily struggle. We work exclusively with those living in extreme poverty, who often have no credit history or assets and cannot qualify for a bank loan to create economic opportunities.
Our micro-credit loans offer entrepreneurs the small economic increase necessary to start or further develop an income-generating business so they can provide for their family.
Each loan is a pebble that often creates a much larger economic ripple, as many of our program’s beneficiaries go on to employ other people in their new ventures.

Michaelange’s Gems
Michaelange has been a part of the PID family since the beginning, when her mother received the first house that PID built. She was one of the first people to be involved in our gem cutting program where she learned the craft quickly and now manages a small group of employees and continues to cut gems herself. She loves her job and is able to support her four children with the money she makes. She dreams that the gem program will expand.
Estania's Salon
Small business owner Estania has been in PID's sponsorship program since she was a young child. After completing the program, she went on to study cosmetology. Upon graduating, she presented her business plan to PID's micro loans program and was granted a start-up loan. She has now opened her very own salon! We are proud of her ambition and success in making her dreams a reality!
Did you know that a $110 donation will fund a small business for six months including business consulting? This will also enable them to build credit to later obtain a PID house.
Housing Program
One of the most basic elements to improving upon people’s well being is ensuring that they have a reliable place to eat, sleep, and live.
Our housing program aims to help families reach their goal of living a better life in safe, adequate housing conditions. Families in the program must take part in the building process, send their children to school and have a means of supporting their family (micro loans available). We also provide emergency houses for homeless women and their children.
As families payback their mortgages, the funds return to the program, helping additional families have access to adequate housing.

Medical Program
A healthy community is a productive community
Too often in impoverished areas of the world, communities crumble under the weight of poor health and lack of access to healthcare.
Established informally in 2002, our Haiti-based clinic quickly grew from a front porch to a fully-functioning out-patient care institution licensed by the Haitian Department of Public Health and staffed by Haitian nationals. It plays a big part in working to end the cycles of poverty within the communities we support.
In 2010, we opened our new building—adhering to protocols recommended by the World Health Organization and the Department of Public Health in Haiti—where we now see approximately 30,000 patients per year.

Higher Education Program
From completing the application process to purchasing school supplies, our higher education program supports people who have completed high school from our communities to access technical training that is often not an option due to a lack of financial resources. Our higher education program provides students the ability to register in courses to increase their marketable skills, so they can get good jobs and achieve their dreams.
Your sponsorship investment of $35 per month (or $420/year) will go towards school tuition, supplies, transportation.
Safety Net Fund
Children under the age of five are one of the most vulnerable groups for malnutrition and high mortality rates due to health issues and poverty (Haiti’s Department of Public Health and Population, March 2010).
Donations to PID’s Safety Net Fund allows PID to immediately cover the cost of milk, medicine, food, transportation, and hospital fees for emergency children that come into our clinic in Haiti. We then look for sponsors for these children. An emergency child is one whose situation in life is dangerously precarious and in need of immediate, potentially life-saving support.
Facets Of Haiti
For further insight into the struggles faced by the people of Haiti, and into PID’s work in Haiti, please take a minute to watch “Facets of Haiti,” a documentary by Sarah Comtois, in association with Partners in Development, and Saint Joseph's College. "Facets of Haiti" focuses on the current political, economic, and social issues Haiti faces through the eyes of local people. The film was produced, filmed, and edited by Sarah Comtois in 2018.
